How It Happened
Caldwell opened the scoring, tallying a 23-yard passing touchdown from quarterback Josh Smith three minutes into the game to lead 7-0 early. Both teams were held scoreless after the Cougars' touchdown until the second quarter when the Quakers tied the battle up at the 8:44 mark of the period off a 35-yard dagger from Malone to sophomore Andy Falletta.

The Cougars retaliated on the third play of their second possession, as Smith found Zaheir Mitchell for a 75-yard touchdown to lead 14-7. Both teams went back and forth with two unsuccessful drives, but once the Quakers got the ball back, Malone's first pass was intercepted by Kyle Readus to hand the rock right back to Caldwell. Luckily for Penn, the defense held strong to hold the Cougars unsuccessful on the drive to end the offensive attempts of the first half.

Coming out of the break, both defenses continued to stand tall as both offenses had three and out outing on their first possessions. Senior Montemayor nailed his sole field goal with 9:03 on the clock to cut the deficit to 14-10. Five minutes later, after holding the Cougars' offense down, Malone tossed a 17-yard passing touchdown to wide receiver Wang to give the Quakers a 17-14 lead they would not relinquish.

The Cougars opened the fourth quarter with quarterback Josh Smith being picked off by senior Janock to dampen any momentum Caldwell tried to muster. The Quakers took almost six minutes off the clock and scored their final touchdown of the game from senior Rebstock, who bumped the lead to its final tally of 24-14.
