Knoxville, Tenn. – The University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team picked up its first dual match win of the year, taking down Furman 4-0, on Sunday morning.
Kian Vakili and
Aaron Sandler took the first doubles match of the day at No. 2, while The Paladins picked up the doubles match at No. 3, leaving the doubles point up for grabs.
Manfredi Graziani and
Zachery Lim battled back from a 2-4 deficit to eventually take the tiebreak at No 1. and secure the doubles point for Penn.
In singles action, Sandler secured the first singles win at No. 2 6-4, 6-1, shortly after Parashar Bhardwaj added a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 5, making the score 3-0 Quakers.
Matthew Rutter clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-1 straight-set victory at No. 6.
Among matches that did not finish, Graziani was looking to start the third set at No 1., Vakili was three games into the third set at No. 3, and
Baylor Sai was four games into the third set at No. 4.
On the day Sandler went 2-0, while the doubles pairing of Vakili and Sandler and remained perfect throughout the weekend.

Penn will play at home for the first time this spring season, welcoming Navy to the Hamlin/Hecht Tennis Centers on Friday, January 19, for a doubleheader slated for 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
