How It Happened
After Penn's defense forced a three-and-out on Cornell's very first drive, the Quakers marched into Big Red territory on their first offensive possession, resulting in a 43-yard field goal attempt for Adrian Montemayor which was blocked.

Just minutes later on Cornell's second play of its next drive, Cam Janock recovered a fumble at the Big Red's 14-yard line.

Ty Scherer rushed three times for 13 yards to get into the red zone before JT Goodman punched it in from one yard out to give the Quakers an early 7-0 lead.

Cornell opened the second quarter with a seven-play, 17 yard drive to set up a 36-yard field goal for Sumner Roberts, making it a 7-3 ballgame with 12:05 remaining in the half.

Charles Tauckus put the pressure on Cornell's QB on 3rd-and-9, picking up the sack for a loss of 13 yards and forcing a 4th-and-27 from the Big Red 6.

After Scherer was picked twice by Jaden Queen, freshman Josh Johnson quickly responded with one of his own with 21 seconds left in the half, as Goodman rushed 11 yards for the first down as time expired.

Cornell's first drive of the second half ended as quickly as it started as Jordan Ortiz recorded his first interception of the year to give Penn the ball back.

The Quakers then took nearly seven minutes off the clock with a 12-play, 92 yard drive resulting in six points for Tom Rebstock's one-yard run, following a gorgeous 31-yard pass from Scherer to Andy Falletta. That put the Quakers ahead, 14-3.

Cornell scored its first TD of the game with a 27-yard completion as time expired in the quarter, pulling within five points at 14-9.

Penn controlled possession throughout the fourth quarter, excelling in the ground game with two drives of a combined 10 minutes. The latter drive was a seven-play, 35-yard drive that led to seven more points as Goodman rushed for his second touchdown of the contest to give Penn a 21-9 edge.

Three hurries in a row for freshman Luke Pajovich was capped by a sack for a loss of 19 yards and turnover on downs for the Big Red offense, as the Quakers put the game on ice to come away with the 21-9 victory.

Quotable
"We knew that our defense was truly special and through two games, they've done a great job. We knew that our offense had to grow a little bit and I think it showed in the second half that they started to get into a rhythm. Being a rhythm-based offense, that caused us to move the chains and do some positive things tonight." – Jerry McConnell, William R. Wagner Head Coach of Sprint Football
