PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania's John R. Rockwell Head Coach of Men's Basketball,
Steve Donahue, has announced the addition of Johnnie Walter to his roster for the 2023-24 season. Walter is a transfer from Cal State University Northridge (CSUN), where he appeared in 25 games as a freshman and averaged nearly 10 minutes per game.
Walter will have three years of eligibility with the Quakers.
"I am excited to add Johnnie to our roster," said Donahue, who has been the Quakers' head coach since the 2015-16 season. "In watching Johnnie, we saw a guy who competes on every play and has a combination of length and strength that allows him to impact the game at both ends of the floor. He has a high basketball IQ and a reputation for being a great teammate who makes the players around him better. We think Johnnie will be a great fit for our program and can't wait to welcome him to campus."
Penn finished the 2022-23 season with a 17-13 overall record and finished third in the Ivy League with a 9-5 mark, ending the campaign one game off the league leaders. The Quakers then lost to eventual champion Princeton in an Ivy Madness semifinal.
