Baker's Big Week Garners Ivy Rookie of the Week Recognition

PHILADELPHIA – University of Pennsylvania baseball infielder Davis Baker was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week Monday afternoon, following a phenomenal five games to wrap the Quakers' Spring Break trip through Texas and Louisiana.

Baker hit .545 during Penn's 3-2 week against Nicholls State and Tulane, scoring five runs and driving in four more. In Penn's two-game series split with the Colonels, Baker went 4-for-8, including a 3-for-5 effort with a run and an RBI in a 5-4 Red and Blue win Wednesday. During Penn's three-game series win over Tulane over the weekend, the Dallas, Texas native went 8-for-14, recording at least two hits in all three games, with four runs and three RBI.

Baker becomes the second Quaker to earn a weekly conference honor this year, following Owen Coady, who earned Pitcher of the Week recognition last Monday.

Penn is back in action Wednesday, hosting Villanova at 3:00 p.m in its home opener from the newly renovated Tommy Lasorda Field at Meiklejohn Stadium.
