Women's Tennis Closes Out Trip to the Copper State at ASU

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team will conclude its spring break trip in the Copper State with a match up in Tempe at Arizona State. This will be the final match out west as the Quakers will return home for three straight matches to end the month of March.

The Quakers are coming off a 1-1 start to their spring break trip as they earned a neutral site win over UTEP and then lost to Arizona both ended with a 5-2 final. Against the Miners, the Quakers jumped out to a 5-0 lead as they opened the dual by claiming the doubles point and victories at #6, #5, #1, and #3 singles. UTEP won the final two singles matches for its two team points. In the loss to the Wildcats, Penn took a 2-0 lead following wins of the doubles point and at #1 singles by Sabine Rutlauka. The Wildcats rallied off five straight singles wins to take the 5-2 victory.

Previewing Arizona State

The Sun Devils are coming off back-to-back 4-0 wins over #46 Baylor and #53 Oregon last weekend. ASU won the doubles point and then earned three two-set victories at #6, #3, and #1 to defeat the Bears. Against the Ducks, after clinching the doubles point the Sun Devils won singles matches at #4, #1, and #3 to improve to 10-2 on the season.
