PHILADELPHIA – The Ivy League has released its annual All-Ivy selections, and the University of Pennsylvania has eight representatives, with half the group landing on the second team.
Artalona (157) and Hale (184) were named to the first team, as Hale was unanimously voted first team.
Michael Colaiocco (133),
Doug Zapf (149),
Nick Incontrera (174), and
Ben Goldin (285) earned second team honors.
Carmen Ferrante (141) and
Cole Urbas (197) were named honorable mention. Zapf earns the fourth All-Ivy honors of his career.
Along with being named to the second team, Zapf was named Academic All-Ivy.
Seven of the eight honorees this season are earning at least a second All-Ivy honor for their career, with Hale earning his first career All-Ivy accolade. Zapf leads the pack with his fourth honor, while Colaiocco, Urbas, and Goldin are three-time honorees, and Ferrante, Artalona, and Incontrera are two-time honorees.

*Honors for wrestling are chosen at the conclusion of the regular season and are based on a wrestler's performance in Ivy League dual meets.

133: Colaiocco has maintained the highest ranking of a Quaker for the entire 2022-23 season and closed out the regular season in seven different rankings. His highest ranking of #7 comes from the NCAA Coaches' Panel, Intermat, and the Open Mat. Colaiocco is also ranked #8 by Wrestlestat, and Wrestling Insider Newsmag, and #9 by Amateur Wrestling News and Flo-wrestling. Colaiocco went 19-4 with a 9-2 mark in dual meets. He also went 5-1 against EIWA competition and 3-1 against Ivy opponents. In 11 dual meets, he collected 34 team points for the Quakers, four more than his team total from a season ago. Colaiocco went 3-2 against top-25 opponents earning wins over #16 Taylor Lamont (Wisconsin), and earned a pair of wins at Midlands Championships over #5 Lucas Byrd (Illinois) and #14 Chris Cannon (Northwestern). Colaiocco won the 133-pound title at Midlands to close out 2022.
141: Ferrante returned to the starting lineup this season and shined with a 9-5 dual record including a 7-2 record against EIWA opponents and a 4-1 record in Ivy bouts. He closed out his dual career with six straight wins, including a major decision win over Princeton's Chris Martino. In Penn's opening dual of the season, Ferrante earned a 4-1 decision win over #2 Iowa's Drew Bennett in Iowa's Carver-Hawkeye Arena. For the second straight season, he earned a huge dual win over Princeton with a major decision win over Martino to give Penn a 16-15 advantage. Ferrante also placed third at the PRTC Keystone Classic.
149: Zapf moved down a weight class and earns his fourth All-Ivy honor of his career, following honorable mention and first team honors as a freshmen and sophomore, respectively and now being named to the second team in back-to-back seasons. He went 18-6 overall in '22-'23 and was 7-4 in dual meet action. He posted a 5-1 record against EIWA competition and was 2-1 in Ivy duals, with wins against Columbia and Princeton. He began his senior campaign with a bang as he took home the Hammer Award by winning the title at 149 pounds at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic. Zapf opened his dual meet season with a few tough matches as two of his first three dual bouts were against top-25 ranked opponents from Iowa and Wisconsin. The senior earned his first dual win of the season against Rutgers' Anthony White, a 7-2 decision. He closed out his regular season with a pair of dual wins over Princeton's Marshall Keller and Drexel's Dominic Findora, including a major decision over Findora. Heading into the postseason, Zapf is nationally ranked #11 by FloWrestling, #12 by the NCAA Coaches' Panel and Intermat. He is also ranked #13 by Amateur Wrestling News, Wrestlestat, The Open Mat, and Wrestling Insider Newsmag. In addition to landing on the second team, Zapf was named to the Academic All-Ivy team.
157: Artalona moved up a weight class from a season ago and caps off his senior season landing his second All-Ivy accolade of his career as he was named to the first team after his freshman season. The Seffner, Fla. native led the team with 23 total wins, 10 more than last season. He posted an overall record of 23-5 going 10-3 in dual meets including 7-1 against EIWA opponents and 4-1 in Ivy action. Artalona was consistently in the national rankings and closes out the regular season ranked by the NCAA Coaches' Panel (#16), Amateur Wrestling News (#20), Flo-wrestling (#24), Intermat (#17), Wrestlestat (#15), and The Open Mat (#20). He is currently riding a six-bout win streak heading into the postseason. On the season, he was a two-time champion of his weight class as he took home the 157-pound title at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic, and the PRTC Keystone Classic to open the season. Artalona opened the Midlands Championships with a 13 second pin that earned him the title of Fastest Fall at the championships in Hoffman Estates, Ill.
174: Incontrera earned his second-straight All-Ivy accolade, repeating as a second-team honoree. In his second collegiate campaign, he posted the second-most wins, with 22 just one behind Artalona. He posted an overall record of 22-7, going 10-4 in dual meet action. He posted a 7-2 record against EIWA competition and went 4-1 against Ivy opponents. He earned Ivy wins against Columbia, Brown, Harvard, and Princeton for a second straight season. He posted a 3-2 record against top-25 opponents, including wins over #20 Ben Pasiuk (Army), #12 Phil Conigliaro (Harvard) and #5 Mikey O'Malley (Drexel). Since the start of last season, Incontrera has made the start at 174 pounds for Penn in dual meets. He ended the regular season ranked by a plethora of outlets, including the NCAA Coaches' Panel (#19), Amateur Wrestling News (#13), FloWrestling (#19), Intermat (#17), Wrestlestat (#18), The Open Mat (#17), Wrestling Insider Newsmag (#18).
184: Over the course of the season, Hale proved that he deserved the starting job at 184 pounds compiling a 7-6 dual record including wins in six of his final seven dual bouts to earn the first All-Ivy honors of his career. He went a perfect 5-0 in Ivy duals, including a first period pin in Penn's win over Brown as he earned the fall over the Bears' Nicholas Olivieri. Despite a slow start in dual meets, Hale earned his first dual win at Stanford, winning by an 8-2 decision over Brook Byers. The West Chester native closed out the regular season with #24 ranking from Wrestlestat.
197: Urbas went 16-11 overall on the season and was 7-7 in dual meet competition. He posted a 6-3 record in EIWA duals and was 3-2 against Ivy competition. Urbas earned Ivy wins against Columbia, Brown, and Harvard. He led the team with five pins, recording most falls for the second straight season. Urbas heads into the postseason ranked by the NCAA Coaches' Panel (#31), Intermat (#32), Wrestlestat (#32) also earning honorable mention recognition from FloWrestling.
285: Goldin earns the third All-Ivy honors of his career, going 18-11 overall and 8-6 in dual meets. The senior captain posted a 7-2 record against EIWA competition and was 3-2 against Ivy opponents. Goldin, won his Ivy bouts against Columbia, Brown, and Princeton. On the season overall, he posted 13 wins by decision. At the PRTC Keystone Classic, he went 4-1 with two pins including the fastest fall of his season with a first period pin of Duke's Connor Barket (F, 1:19). The Orlando, Fla. native closed out the regular season earning national recognition, ranked by the NCAA Coaches' Panel (#27), Intermat (#31), Wrestlestat (#33), and earned an honorable mention from FloWrestling.
Penn is getting ready to host the 119th EIWA Championships at The Palestra this weekend. The two-day championships are set for March 4 & 5.
