PHILADELPHIA – Sophomore
Bronwyn Patterson of the University of Pennsylvania track and field team is off to New Mexico. With a successful weekend at Ivy Heps, she has qualified for the NCAA Indoor National Championships for the 800m on March 10.
Â
On Sunday at the final day of the Ivy Indoor Heptagonal Championships, Patterson shattered several records and moved up to second in program history in the 800m with a winning time of 2:04.54, collecting the Ivy title in the event. The time set the new meet record set in 2007 by Cornell's Morgan Uceny and the facility record from all the way back in 1984 by Sherbrooke's Christina Slythe.
Â
Due to track size, the time was converted to 2:03.12, landing her 15th in the nation and qualifying her for national championships.
Â
The NCAA Championships begin on March 10 at the Albuquerque Convention Center in New Mexico. The 800m semifinals will take place on March 10 at 6:45 p.m., EST. The finals will take place on Saturday, March 11 at 6:30 p.m., EST.
