#2 Men's Squash Opens Potter Cup With 7-2 Win Over #7 Drexel

PHILADELPHIA – The #2 University of Pennsylvania men's squash team advanced to the College Squash Association (CSA) Potter Cup semifinals with a 7-2 win over #7 Drexel on Friday afternoon from the Penn Squash Center, the Quakers' second 7-2 win over the Dragons this season.

Three matches went to five games on Friday; Penn won all three of them. The first of those five-gamers opened the day's action, with Dana Santry picking up the victory. Omar Hafez followed with a 3-0 win and Shaam Gambhir followed with the second five-game win to close the opening wave; Gambhir took the first game 13-11 after facing four game balls down 10-6, then rallied again after trailing two games to one.

After Drexel opened the second wave with a win to close to 3-1, Saksham Choudhary picked up his 50th victory at Penn in dramatic fashion, rallying from 2-1 down for the Quakers' final five-game win of the match, pushing the team's lead to 4-1. The Dragons took the final match of the second wave to close back within two at 4-2.

Nick Spizzirri erased any hope of a Drexel comeback to open the final flight, winning 3-0, officially clinching the match for Penn. Abdelrahman Dweek made it 6-2 with a 3-0, 23-minute win, the quickest match of the day. Dillon Huang closed the match with a four-game win.

Penn will play the host #6 Trinity in the Potter Cup Semifinals tomorrow at 2:30.
