Women's Squash's Taha Earns Ivy Rookie of the Year, First-Team All-Ivy Honors

PHILADELPHIA – University of Pennsylvania women's squash player Malak Taha was named Ivy League Rookie of the Year and a First-Team All-Ivy selection, as announced by the conference office Wednesday.

Taha becomes:
  • The first Penn women's player on an All-Ivy team since Jessica Davis following the 2019-20 season.
  • Penn women's squash's first major conference award winner since Reeham Sedky was named Player of the Year for the 2017-18 season.
  • Penn women's squash's first Ivy Rookie of the Year since Yan Xin Tan in 2012-13.
Taha has been a constant presence at the top of the Penn lineup this season, playing all nine of her matches at #1, going 3-3 in conference play. Of those three conference wins, two have come against fellow All-Ivy selections Elisabeth Ross of Yale and Molly Chadwick of Princeton.

The Penn women return to competition this weekend when they host the CSA Team Championships Friday through Sunday. The Red and Blue open the Kurtz Cup on Friday at 3:30 p.m. against Bowdoin.
