PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women's squash team fell 7-2 to Virginia Friday afternoon at the Penn Squash Center in the Quakers' final match of the regular season.
Seven matches went at least four games and three went five in a highly competitive contest between the #8 and #9 teams in in the College Squash Association (CSA) rankings.
The eighth-ranked Cavaliers jumped out to a 3-0 lead before
Avni Anand got Penn on the board with a five-game win,
Grace Lavin and
Eujung Park going to four games each in their early matches.
Jana Dweek went to four games in her match, but Virginia added two more wins to clinch the match. Across the day's final trio of matches,
Emma Carter picked up a four-game win, and
Penelope Oh &
Malak Taha each went to five games in their matches.
The women will be back in action at the CSA Team Championships next Friday through Sunday from the Penn Squash Center.
