How It Happened

Simone Sawyer and the first three-pointer of the day for Padilla. The lead would stretch to as much as 10 points in the quarter after an Obi three, but it was cut to five in the final minute by the Big Green.
Â
Without any worry, Padilla connected with Toonders in the closing seconds of the frame, as the senior drove in for the and-one layup to give Penn the 18-10 lead at the first break.
Â
Â
A tighter second frame had the Big Green edge out the Quakers by one, 10-9, but Penn carried a 27-20 advantage into the locker room. Padilla was the catalyst in the quarter, adding five more points while playing the full 10 minutes, as she led all scorers at the half with 14 points (5-for-10).
Â
Out of the locker room, Penn hit its stride again. Obi kicked off the quarter with a hook shot on the first position and later added back-to-back threes with Padilla to push the advantage to 12. By the end of the frame, A 5-0 run game the Quakers a 45-31 advantage headed to the final 10 minutes after two free throws by Toonders and a turnaround jumper by Padilla.
Â
Â
A high scoring fourth quarter had the Big Green earn a 26-24 frame, but Penn scored early to push to its largest lead of the game, 51-34, after two free throws by McGurk. Dartmouth got as close as 10 points in the closing minute, sending the Quakers to the line three different times. McGurk, Obi and Padilla each went 2-for-2 at the line to solidify the 12-point victory.
