#2 Men Sweep Cornell as Squash Splits Ivy League Openers

ITHACA, N.Y. – The University of Pennsylvania men's and women's squash teams split their Ivy League openers Friday afternoon against Cornell. The second-ranked Quaker men picked up eight 3-0 victories during a 9-0 win over the #8 Big Red, and the #9 women fell to the sixth-ranked team in the College Squash Association (CSA) rankings, 6-3..

On the men's side, Tushar Shahani and Saksham Choudhary picked up the first two wins of the day and Nathan Kueh closed out the first flight in perhaps the finest match of the day on either side, winning in five games in just over one hour of action.

Dana Santry, Omar Hafez, and Dillon Huang swept the second wave, all winning their matches in 35 minutes or less. Abdelrahman Dweek, Nick Spizzirri, and Roger Baddour closed out the sweep for the Quakers with three more dominant victories, running the program's regular season win streak to 30, dating back to the 2019-20 season.

On the women's side, Cornell took all three matches in the opening wave and the first two matches of the second wave, but the Quakers did not go down quietly, with Penelope Oh, Grace Lavin, and Navmi Sharma all picking up wins over the final four matches of the afternoon.

In earlier action, Malak Taha, Avni Anand, Natasha Pensler, and Eujung Park all pushed their matches to four games in defeat.

Both teams will return home to the Penn Squash Center Sunday for another Ivy League battle with Columbia, ranked #8 on the women's side and #9 on the men's side.
