PHILADELPHIA – University of Pennsylvania gymnastics junior Sara Kenefick (Gymnast of the Week) and freshman Skyelar Kerico (Newcomer of the Week) captured two of the first three Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) awards of the new season, announced on Wednesday afternoon by the conference office.
 
Named GEC Gymnast of the Week for the third time in her career, Kenefick recorded a career-high all-around score of 39.025 and led her teammates on the vault and floor en route to Penn's highest season-opening team score in program history with a 193.525 at Friday's Keystone Classic.
 
Kerico also made major contributions to the Quakers' historic night with a 39.125 all-around score, finishing third in the competition. She finished with Penn's best score on the bars and beam.
 
The Quakers visit Penn State on Friday evening, also taking on LIU and Southern Connecticut State at Rec Hall, beginning at 6 p.m.
