*Senior captain Elita Van Staden secured the goal for Penn in the second quarter, scoring on a penalty stroke. It's her second goal of the season.

*Penn outshot the Tigers, 17-14, with 10 on target.

*The Quakers were slightly edged in penalty corners, 9-8, but seven of Penn's corners all came in the fourth quarter.

*Senior captain Meghan Ward led the team in shots with five, three of which were on goal.

*Sophomore Frederique Wollaert tended the cage for the full 60 minutes, making five saves.

*Penn has now faced five nationally ranked opponents across their first seven games. In the last three nationally ranked matchup, the Quakers have fell by just one goal: No. 20 Boston College, 2-1 in shootout; No. 1 Northwestern, 4-3; and No. 7 Princeton, 2-1.

How It Happened
The Tigers found the back of the cage first in the game, scoring almost 10 minutes into the first quarter off a penalty corner. However, the lead would go away with 7:33 left in the second quarter when the Quakers were awarded a penalty stroke after a Princeton defender had a ball kick up off their arm.

Van Staden stepped up to take the stroke, slinging home a right shot into the back of the net for the 1-1 tie.

Princeton reclaimed the lead right before the half. It took some work to get that goal following three big saves in the half by Wollaert.

The third quarter didn't see any movement on the scoreboard, as the Quakers held Princeton to one shot through the 15-minute stretch. On the other end of the field, Penn got off three shots all on target by Julia Ryan, Livia Loozen and Ward. However, the Princeton goalkeeper managed to pull in saves on each.

In the final frame, the Quakers commanded much of the 15 minutes, outshooting the Tigers, 10-3, with seven penalty corners. However, none of them found the back of the cage and the score held at 2-1 the rest of the way.

Up Next
