Men's Squash Announces 2022-23 Schedule

PHILADELPHIA – University of Pennsylvania men's squash coach and reigning Ivy League Coach of the Year Gilly Lane C'07 has announced his team's 2022-23 schedule.

Penn put together a remarkable 2021-22 campaign, maintaining its preseason No. 1 position in the College Squash Association (CSA) rankings all season long, winning the first 18 matches of the season before falling to Harvard 5-4 in the Potter Cup (National Championship) Final.

10 players from last season's team return, including Ivy League Rookie of the Year Nathan Kueh, seniors Dillon Huang and Saksham Choudhary, juniors Nick Spizzirri and Dana Santry, and sophomore Roger Baddour, all of whom won at least 10 matches in team competition, posting a combined 80-11 record.

"We are extremely excited to compete again in 2022-23, said Lane. "Last season was a historic year for this program and we'll continue to build from the foundation created by our graduated seniors. Once again, our schedule matches us up against the best teams in the country and we look forward to combining veterans who have competed in national championship finals with talented underclassmen looking to make their mark on the program. We cannot wait to put the jerseys on again and compete for our great university and alumni."

Following the Ivy Scrimmages at Yale on November 5 and 6, Penn heads to Franklin and Marshall for the Pennsylvania State Championships on November 12 and 13. The Quakers and Diplomats will be joined at the event by Drexel and Dickinson. Following matches on the campus of the University of Virginia November 18 and 19 against the Cavaliers and Western Ontario, the Quakers kick off their home slate against Tufts on November 20.

The Fall portion of the season concludes with a weekend at the Penn Squash Center against Rochester and Haverford (Dec. 3) and Chatham (Dec. 4).

Penn rings in the new year by kicking off Ivy League play against Cornell in Ithaca on January 13, followed by a January 15 home date with Columbia. Conference play continues with a weekend trip through New England to Dartmouth on January 21 and Harvard on January 22, the latter marking the first meeting between the teams since the Potter Cup Final. Penn returns to the Squash Center to close out the month with matches against Yale (Jan. 28) and Trinity (Jan. 29); Penn beat Yale in last season's Potter Cup Semifinals.

The regular season concludes with a Penn-Princeton showdown at the Squash Center on February 4; Princeton was the only team to take more than three matches off Penn during the Quakers unbeaten regular season campaign last year.

The CSA Men's Team Championships will take place from the campus of Yale/Trinity from February 24-26. The CSA Individual Championships will take place March 3-5 at the Arlen Specter Squash Center, right on 33rd Street just up the road from the Penn Squash Center.
