Also a USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America and Ivy League Player of the Year, Handley leads Penn with 70 points, scoring 36 goals and dishing out a team-high 34 assists. His 70 points are second on Penn's single-season list, behind only Peter Hollis (75 in 1977), while his 34 assists are tied for sixth and his 36 goals are tied for seventh. Handley was tops among Ivy League players in assists per game (3.00) and points per game (5.83) in conference play and has recorded at least three points in all but one game this season. The highlight came in Penn's 21-20 overtime loss at Princeton, when he fell one assist shy of the program's single-game record set in 1969 and scored three goals for an 11-point day. The
Inside Lacrosse National Freshman of the Year and unanimous Ivy League Rookie of the Year in 2019, Handley is one of five finalists for the Tewaaraton Award and was recently honored with the University's prestigious Class of 1915 Award.
Bond earned honorable mention recognition as a short-stick defensive middie. One of this year's captains, Bond has 11 caused turnovers and 26 ground balls. At the offensive end, the senior has two goals and two assists for four points, three of them coming in Ivy play. He was a first-team All-Ivy pick by the Ancient Eight coaches at SSDM.
A two-time honorable mention All-Ivy pick, Farrare is a menace on the wing during faceoffs and has scooped up 53 ground balls. He also has a team-high 18 caused turnovers this season and has recorded two goals (against Duke and Brown) and six assists with the long pole. Of note, he caused five turnovers and scooped up seven ground balls in Penn's Ivy League Tournament semifinal win over top-seeded and host Brown. Following the Tournament, Farrare was named to the all-tournament team.
Lavelle, who also was an honorable mention Midseason All-America by
Inside Lacrosse earlier this season, has typically been assigned the opponents' top offensive player this season. He has 11 caused turnovers and 24 ground balls and was a second-team All-Ivy pick.
Penn (11-4) remains alive in the NCAA Championship after an 11-10 overtime win over Richmond in the first round on Saturday. The third-seeded Quakers will face sixth-seeded Rutgers in a quarterfinal game on Saturday at Hofstra's James M. Shuart Stadium. Ticket and parking can be found here.
