Penn shot 320 on Saturday and ended the event at 55-over-par 631. That had the Quakers well ahead of second-place Fairfield (653) and third-place Merrimack (654) in what was a seven-team field. This was Penn's first spring tournament win since 2014, when the Quakers won the Hoya Invitational.
Individually, senior
Mary Shin shot 73 on both Friday and Saturday—the low round in the field both days—to finish the event at 2-over-par 146. That left her eight shots clear in the 44-player field, as Quinnipiac's Kaylee Sakoda was second at 154. Shin's win was the first by a Penn player since
Susan Xiao won Delaware's Lady Blue Hen Invitational in the fall of 2019, and the first spring victory since Amanda Chin took medalist honors at Georgetown's 2014 Hoya Invitational.
Freshman
Natalie Cao carded a 79 on Saturday and finished the weekend tied for fifth at 157, while Xiao shot 161 for the weekend and tied for seventh.
Selina Li was in the field as an individual but tied for ninth overall, her second-round 78 leaving her at 162 for the tournament.
Olivia Traynor (166) tied for 16th in the field,
Abigail Wiranatha (167) and
Leila Dizon (167) were part of a group that tied for 19th, and
Debby Chang (168) tied for 23rd.
This was Penn's final tune-up before next weekend's Ivy League Championships. The three-day, 54-hole event will run Friday through Sunday at The Ridge at Back Brook in Ringoes, N.J.
