Gymnastics Posts Top Score in Program History at Maryland With a 196.225

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – It was a record-setting day for The University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team on Sunday at the University of Maryland Quad.
 
The Quakers set a program record with a total score of 196.225. It marks the highest score ever by an Ivy League program. The host Terrapins won with a score of 197.025 and George Washington finished second at 196.325. The Red and Blue were third and Bridgeport was fourth with a score of 188.475.
 
Ariyana Agarwala tied for the highest score on the vault with a program-record mark of 9.900 and McCaleigh Marr had the top score on the day on the balance beam with a 9.900.
 
BEAM | Penn 49.175
The Quakers got off to a hot start by setting a program record on the beam. All five members of the Red and Blue that scored had marks of 9.775 or higher. McCaleigh Marr scored a 9.900 on the beam and it was her second time this season scoring 9.9 or higher. Her 9.900 is tied for the fourth-best score in program history and McCaleigh is now the only Quaker in program history with multiple scores in the top-four all-time on beam. Kiersten Belkoff and Rose DeBarberie both posted career-best scores of 9.850 and Sara Kenefick had a 9.800. Senior co-captain Natalie Yang rounded out the scoring with a 9.775.
 
FLOOR | Penn 48.725
Emma Davies and Sara Kenefick paced Penn on the floor routine with scores of 9.775. Connie Hsu's big day started with a career best 9.750 on floor and she was followed by Rebekah Lashley (9.725) and Olivia VanHorn (9.700).
 
VAULT | Penn 49.150
Penn had its second highest score of the season and the second-best mark in program history in the vault on Sunday! Ariyana Agarwala had a career-high score of 9.900 to tie a program record. It was the highest score on vault for a Quaker since 2012. Agarwala now has the top mark and the third-highest score in program history on vault. All five members of the Red and Blue to score had scores of 9.800 or better. Following Agarwala was Sydney Kraez and Olivia VanHorn. Both Quakers had career-best scores of 9.825. Connie Hsu and Rose DeBarberie rounded out the scorers for Penn on vault as each posted marks of 9.800.
 
BARS | Penn 49.175
Penn closed the day with its highest score of the season on bars and the 49.175 was the second-highest mark in program history. It is the best score for Penn on bars since March of 2017. Sydney Kraez and Isabel Song led the way for the Quakers with marks of 9.850. Kraez tied a career high and Song set a new career best. They were followed closely by McCaleigh Marr (9.825), Kristen Kuhn (9.825) and Connie Hsu (9.825). Hsu's score was also a new career best.  
 
Up Next
Penn head to the Ocean State on Saturday to compete in the first Gymnastics East Conference Championships. The event is scheduled to get underway at 1:00 p.m. and is hosted by Brown University.
