Gymnastics Bests Cornell on Sunday, 193.5 - 191.9

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team defeated visiting Cornell, 193.5 – 191.9, on Sunday afternoon at The Palestra in Ivy League and Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) action.

The Quakers won their second straight meet at home and posted a score of 193.5 or better for the fourth consecutive meet.

Senior co-captain Sydney Kraez brought home the all-around title with a score of 39.175. Kraez was also one of three Quakers to win an event as the Red and Blue had a student-athlete post the highest score in all four rotations. Kraez had the top mark in both the vault (9.8) and the floor (9.775). McCaleigh Marr led the way on bars with a score of 9.9 and Rose DeBarberie had the highest score on beam (9.8).

VAULT | Penn 48.625
Sydney Kraez led the way for Penn on vault with her score of 9.8. Finishing just behind Kraez was Rose DeBarberie at 9.750. Both Emma Davies and Olivia VanHorn posted marks of 9.7, while Isabel Song and Connie Hsu both recorded scores of 9.675.

BARS | Penn 48.875
McCaleigh Marr put an exclamation point on the second rotation with a score of 9.9 on the final routine. Kraez had the second-highest mark at the meet at 9.850 and she finished just ahead of Ana Kenefick (9.725). Isabel Song (9.7) and Sarah Penuela-Wermers (9.7) rounded out the scorers for the Red and Blue.  

BEAM | Penn 47.350
Rose DeBarberie started out the third rotation with a score of 9.8 and Kraez followed with a 9.750. The other three scorers on the beam were Sara Kenefick (9.350), McCaleigh Marr (9.250) and Campbell Marr (9.2).

FLOOR | Penn 48.650
The Quakers held a slim 144.850 – 144.0 lead heading into the final rotation. Penn pulled away with all five scorers posting marks of 9.7 or better on the floor. Kraez had the top score on the day on the floor at 9.775 and she was followed closely by Emma Davies, Ariyana Agarwala and Rebekah Lashley who all had scores of 9.725. Isabel Song rounded out the scorers with a mark of 9.7.
