No. 8 Women's Squash Knocks Off No. 4 Columbia in Howe Cup, 6-3

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The University of Pennsylvania women's squash team picked up a 6-3 victory over #4 Columbia in the Howe Cup consolation bracket Saturday afternoon, advancing to the fifth-place match Sunday morning against Princeton.

Avni Anand and Emma Wolf helped Penn snag the early lead through the opening wave. Anand picked up the first of four 3-0 wins for the Quakers from the #3 spot in the lineup, moving to 12-3 on the season. Wolf moved to 9-5 on the season with a 3-1 win from #8.

The Lions answered back with two wins in the second wave. Penelope Oh remained unbeaten on the season, picking up her seventh win, the second 3-0 victory of the day for Penn, sending the match to the final flight tied at three.

Navmi Sharma took the first match of the final wave, winning a close first game 12-10 en route to a 3-0 win to put Penn up 4-3. Jamila Abou El Enin followed with her first 3-0 victory of the season to clinch the match. Grace Lavin added a 3-1 win to close out the day's action for the Quakers, as Penn finished the day 4-0 from the #6-#9 spots in the lineup.

Penn and Princeton will play Sunday morning at 11:30 to determine the 5th and 6th-ranked teams in the final College Squash Association (CSA) rankings.
