How It Happened
Duke opened the scoring on Saturday with the game's first two goals, Andrew McAdorey finishing a Naekie Montgomery feed just 1:04 into the contest and Jake Caputo scoring a little more than a minute later. Penn equalized over a 35-second span midway through the period, Gebe Furey finishing a James Shipley feed to get the Quakers on the board and then Dylan Gergar scoring off a Ben Bedard feed.

McAdorey and Gergar traded goals 38 seconds apart to get to 3-3, and then Penn took its first lead when BJ Farrare scored his first goal of the season with 3:46 left in the first. Montgomery scored in the final minute of the period, and it was 4-4 after one.

Gergar opened the scoring in the second period, completing his hat trick, but Duke reeled off the next three goals before Gergar netted his fourth of the day. The Blue Devils' lead was 7-6 at halftime.

Montgomery opened the second-half scoring just 1:12 into the third, putting Duke up 8-6, but Shipley got it back just 19 seconds later. The teams then went scoreless for nearly seven minutes before Brennan O'Neil scored a pair of goal 2:04 apart to push the Blue Devils up by three goals with 4:42 left in the third. Sam Handley got one of those goals back before the period ended, and Duke's lead was 10-8 heading into the final quarter.

Tynan Walsh got his first Penn goal just 46 seconds into the fourth, but old friend Sean Lulley scored for Duke to put the Devils back up by two. Charlie O'Connor then made it 12-9 with 10:32 left, a goal that was quickly matched by Gergar who finished a Bedard feed. Less than a minute after that, Gergar netted a man-up tally which got the Quakers within one, and Shipley completed the comeback with an unassisted goal that tied the game at 12-12 with 6:56 left in regulation.

Duke took one final lead with 4:25 to play, Williams finishing a Lulley feed, but Penn held the Devils scoreless the rest of the way and then Shipley scored on a last-gasp effort to tie things up with just two seconds left in regulation.

Both teams had opportunities in the extra session, but Jack Schultz put it to bed with just 25 seconds left to give Penn its first lead since 5-4 and the victory.
