#1 Men’s Squash Denied Perfect Season As #2 Harvard Takes Potter Cup, 5-4

PHILADELPHIA – In a match befitting of the two best teams in the country, the University of Pennsylvania men's squash team dropped a back-and-forth, 5-4 heartbreaker to Harvard Sunday afternoon in the 2022 College Squash Association (CSA) Potter Cup Final.

Roger Baddour gave Penn the early lead with a convincing 3-0 win in a match that lasted 25 minutes, the shortest of the day. Andrew Douglas had Penn on the verge of a 2-0 lead, but Harvard survived two match balls in the fourth game before taking the match in five, squaring things at one. Nick Spizzirri put Penn up 2-1 to close the first wave, avenging his loss to George Crowne from the regular season with a five-game win.

Harvard answered back in the second wave, taking the first two matches from Penn's Yash Bhargava and James Flynn to grab a 3-2 lead. Saksham Choudhary followed with his 17th straight win to knot things up at three. After Aly Abou Eleinen dropped his first match of the season, Dillon Huang pulled off his second comeback of the season from two games down against Harvard's Adam Corcoran, knotting the match at four with one to play.

In the winner-take-all match, Penn's Nathan Kueh, coming off two five-game matches in two days, put in a valiant effort, but Harvard came away with the match and a third straight national championship.

As a team, the Quakers finish the season 18-1 with nine regular season shutouts (plus one more during the Potter Cup) and nine regular season wins over top 10 teams (plus two more during the Potter Cup).

Sunday marked the end of men's team competition for the 2021-22 season, but several Quakers will return to the court for the CSA Individual Championships, running from March 4-6 at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center on the campus of Drexel University.
