#1 Men’s Squash Advances to Potter Cup Semifinals With 9-0 Win Over #8 Drexel

PHILADELPHIA – The #1 University of Pennsylvania men's squash team improved to 17-0 and advanced to the College Squash Association (CSA) Potter Cup semifinals with a 9-0 win over #8 Drexel on Saturday afternoon from the Penn Squash Center, the Quakers' second sweep of the Dragons this season.

Saksham Choudhary picked up the first win of the day in 3-0 fashion, running his record for the season to 15-0; Nick Spizzirri followed with a 3-0 win of his own. After winning the first two games, then dropping the next two of his match, newly-minted Ivy League Rookie of the Year Nathan Kueh took the fifth game 11-9, closing out a match that lasted 76 minutes.

Roger Baddour opened the second flight with a tightly-contested 3-0 win, with each game ending 11-8 or closer. With the men now up 4-0, Aly Abou Eleinen rallied from 2-1 down for a five-game win over Matias Knudsen, his second five-game win over Knudsen this season, clinching the match for Penn. Yash Bhargava made it 6-0 a few minutes later with a 3-1 win.

Shaam Gambhir and Andrew Douglas made it 8-0 with wins just minutes apart, Gambhir with a 3-1 win, Douglas winning due to opponent retirement (Douglas was leading 11-3, 11-3 at the time). With the final match of the day changed to a best-of-three, Dillon Huang closed out the sweep for Penn.

The men will now face #4 Yale tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. in one Potter Cup semifinal, following the Bulldogs' win over Princeton. The other semifinal will pit the #2 seed Harvard against the #6 seed Columbia. The winners of those semifinals will face each other on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. for the Potter Cup championship.
