Gymnastics Sets Program Record With 195.375 Score at Towson

TOWSON, Md. – The University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team set a new program record with a total score of 195.375 in a dual meet against Towson on Sunday afternoon at the SECU Arena.

The Quakers bested the previous program high of 195.075 which was set at Maryland in 2019. The score was the highest-ever for an Ivy League program, topping Yale's previous record of 195.325 set back in 2018.

The impressive score came up just short against the host Tigers with nationally ranked Towson edging out the Red and Blue, 195.950 – 195.375.

It was a day to remember for Penn, with four Quakers winning events and Sydney Kraez taking home the all-around title. Kraez scored 38.925 across all four events to win the all-around crown for the second straight meet.

McCaleigh Marr posted the top mark on the beam and tied a program record at 9.950. It was the highest score for a Quaker in more than 21 years. Sarah Penuela-Wermers won the bars with a career-high 9.900 and Kiersten Belkoff won the vault with a career-best score of 9.875. Sara Kenefick tied for the top score on the day on the floor with a 9.875.

BARS | Penn 48.925
The Red and Blue opened the day with their highest score of the season on the bars. It was also the third-best score in the event in program history. Sarah Penuela-Wermers led the way for Penn and she was followed closely by Sydney Kraez and Isabel Song who both posted marks of 9.800. McCaleigh Marr (9.750) and Sara Kenefick (9.675) rounded out the scorers for the Quakers.

VAULT | Penn 48.750
Belkoff had the best score on the vault for Penn and Isabel Song also had a strong score at 9.775. Following Song were Kraez (9.750), Sara Kenefick (9.675) and Emma Davies (9.675).

FLOOR | Penn 48.700
Sara Kenefick set a new career-high on the floor with her score of 9.875 and finishing just behind her was Emma Davies (9.800). Olivia VanHorn (9.750), Ariyana Agarwala (9.700) and Kraez (9.575) also registered scores for the Red and Blue.

BEAM | Penn 49.00
The Quakers posted their highest score of the season on the beam to help set a new program record. Marr's 9.950 set the tone and Kraez added a score of 9.800. Kiersten Belkoff was right behind Kraez with a 9.775 while both Natalie Yang (9.750) and Rose DeBarberie (9.725) added scores of over 9.700 for the Red and Blue.
