PRINCETON, N.J. – The University of Pennsylvania women's rowing team was fastest among its peers on the three-mile Lake Carnegie course Sunday morning, highlighting the Penn rowing teams at the annual Princeton Chase.

Heavyweight Men
Penn's 'A' boat was the 7 bow in the morning's Eights racing but finished fifth out of 41 boats in a time of 13:34.646. Syracuse won the division with a time of 12:59.826, with Princeton second in 13:03.294. Among Penn's other boats in the division, the 'B' boat (21 bow) was eighth overall in 13:49.272; the 'C' boat (30 bow) was 20th in 14:20.716; and the 'D' boat (36 bow) was 37th in 15:27.949.
In the afternoon, Penn had a pair of Eights and four Fours compete. In the Eights racing, Penn's 'A' boat finished 10th out of 22 boats in 14:01.966 while the 'B' boat took 18th in 15:02.341. Wisconsin swept the top two spots, the Badgers' 'A' boat clocking 13:19.681 and their 'B' boat timed in 13:35.310.
In the Fours, Penn's 'B' boat actually had the top time among the Quaker quartet, clocking 14:39.129. That put Penn fourth out of 32 boats behind only Syracuse's 'A' boat (14:06.464) and Princeton's 'A' (14:09.221) and 'B' (14:21.602). Penn's 'A' boat clocked 14:54.184 to finish eighth, while the Quakers' 'D' was 15th in 15:19.106 and their 'C' boat was 18th in 15:27.057.
Women
Penn's Varsity Eight was fastest among 59 boats in its division on Sunday morning, clocking 15:08.119 which was a good 15 seconds ahead of second-place Radcliffe (15:23.878). Perhaps more impressively, the Quakers' B boat was third overall in a time of 15:24.350. That put the boat ahead of A boats from host Princeton (fourth in 15:26.343), Syracuse (fifth), Drexel (10th), Iowa (11th), Rutgers (12th), and Duke (13th). Penn had three other boats in the division, the 'C' boat finishing 22nd overall in 16:35.819; the 'D' boat taking 35th in 17:13.950; and the 'E' boat finishing 50th in 17:41.934.
In the afternoon, Penn had two boats in a 10-boat Eights division, the 'A' boat placing fifth in 16:44.087 and the 'B' boat taking ninth in 17:59.717.
Lightweight Men
Penn's 'A' boat was the No. 4 bow entering Sunday morning's races but the Quakers finished third out of 17 boats in a time of 13:42.953. That was behind only the 'A' boats from Princeton (13:31.673) and Navy (13:39.270). In a nice show of depth, Penn's 'B' boat had the 10 bow but finished fifth overall in 13:49.963. The Quakers' 'C' boat (with the 16 bow) was 13th in 14:35.177.
The lightweight boats were mixed in with the heavyweights in the afternoon, in both the Eights and Fours racing. The lightweight's 'A' boat was seventh out of 22 boats in the Eights racing, clocking 13:57.537, while the 'B' boat was 19th in 15:03.928. In the Fours racing, the lightweight 'A' boat was 13th out of 32 boats in 15:11.805 while the 'B' boat had the 16th-best time (15:19.453).
