#9 Women's Squash Opens Season With Convincing Wins Over Chatham and Dickinson

LANCASTER, Pa. – The ninth-ranked University of Pennsylvania women's squash team opened the 2022-23 season Saturday with a pair of sweeps over #23 Chatham and Dickinson.

In the morning match against the Cougars, the Quakers won all nine matches 3-0. Grace Lavin and Abbie Rorke opened the day with wins ending just seconds apart. Avani Anand and Natasha Pensler, playing #3 in her first collegiate match, capped the opening quartet a few minutes after that. Elizabeth Weise picked up the match-clinching point out of the #9 spot shortly before Emma Carter and Kelsey Abbrecht picked up wins in quick succession dropping nine POINTS between them. Jana Dweek, playing #2 in her first collegiate match and Eujung Park closed the morning session with all nine Quakers wrapping up their wins in less than 25 minutes.

In the afternoon affair with the Devils, who were playing with just a five-women lineup, Ashley Manning dropped just six points en route to a win at #1 while Carter and Ella Cohen closed out the opening trio of matches just seconds apart. Abbrecht and Penelope Oh, playing at #2, her highest-ever spot in the lineup, made it a perfect 14-for-14 in 3-0 wins for the Quakers.

The Quakers wrap the weekend back in Philadelphia at the Specter Squash Center at Noon in the Battle for 33rd Street against reigning national runners-up and pre-season #3 Drexel.
