Last Week
Last Friday was forgettable for the Quakers, falling 40-0 to Army at Franklin Field. Penn struggled offensively, being shut out for the first time since the 2017 CSFL Championship Game (10-0) against the Black Knights. The Quakers totaled just 128 yards of total offense, despite 180 through the air, as Army edged them in first downs, 17-10.
QB Play
Friday was a tough go for senior quarterback
Andrew Paolini, who picked up his first blemish of the season, his first interception of 2022. He passed for 180 yards on 13 completions, his longest pass of the night was for 50 yards to freshman
Brandon Graves.
Big Play Threat
There's no doubting the talent of Graves, who has had a whale of a start to his Penn career as Paolini's top target out wide. In just three games, Graves had made 10 catches for 254 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 84.67 receiving yards per game so far. He will look to untap his play from the opening contest of the season against Alderson Broaddus, in which he caught five passes for 128 yards and a pair of scores.
Two Staples
Freshman
Charles Tauckus and sophomore
Jake Inserra have both been tremendous staples for the Penn defense at linebacker, combining for 53 of the team's 175 tackles so far this season. Tauckus is the team leader at 30 (with 16 solos), while Inserra has totaled 23 (with 10 solos). The former has 2.5 tackles for a loss while the latter has 2.0 for a loss of 14 yards. After being named CSFL Rookie of the Week after Week 2, Tauckus landed a spot on the CSFL Honor Roll after his performance against Army.
Jack Of All Trades
Sophomore
Adrian Montemayor has done it all for the Quakers this season on both defense and special teams. He's had a solid season so far as a leading tackler on the defensive side of the ball, but also has the team's consistent kicker and punter. Montemayor's fifth on the team in total tackles with 15, while tallying an interception to his name. He's accumulated 17 punts for 613 yards (36.06 average) while going 1-for-1 on field goal tries.
Scouting The Griffins
Chestnut Hill is still searching for its first win of the season after falling on the road at Mansfield on Sept. 24, 40-21. The Griffins had a bye last week and stay close with a trip to Philadelphia Friday night. QB Anthony Cancellare has started two games so far, totaling 23 completions for 239 yards and two touchdowns. On the ground, Anthony Broderick has totaled 120 yards with a score. On defense, Colby Goldsmith has a team-high 17 total tackles, followed by a sack each for Lex Williams and Jonathan Havrilak.
All-Time Series
Penn leads the all-time ledger between the two teams, 4-1. The Quakers beat the Griffins, 56-7 last season at Chestnut Hill on the road.
