PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania rowing programs will conclude a fantastic weekend of celebration with the Navy Day Regatta, which takes place Sunday on the Schuylkill River.
Saturday, of course, saw the official unveiling of the renovated boathouse on Boathouse Row. After a day full of tours, the programs celebrated with a formal affair Saturday night in the Tse Center. All of these events lead up to Sunday's racing, which for Penn will start around 10 a.m. and conclude shortly after 1 p.m.
"The season's first regatta is always unique, and it's even better that it's on our home water," said Penn's head coach,
Wesley Ng. "The athletes we are most excited about are those who represent the Red and Blue for the first time in collegiate racing and our seniors who are beginning their final fall.
"We'll be fielding four eights and three coxed fours. After a solid start to fall training, it will be great to race against other teams. The quality of rowing on the Schuylkill is getting better all the time, and I hope that we all represent Philadelphia rowing to the best of our ability."
