PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team defeated visiting Yale, 194.425 - 194.200, on Sunday afternoon in Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) action at The Palestra.
The Quakers posted their best score at home in program history, topping the previous mark of 194.400 set back in 2012 at the ECAC Championships.
Sara Kenefick won the all-around title with a total score of 38.975.
Rose DeBarberie and
Isabel Song tied for the highest score on the day in the vault (9.825) while
McCaleigh Marr tied a pair of Bulldogs for the top score on the beam (9.825).
VAULT | Penn 48.875
The Quakers got the day started by posting the second-highest score in program history on the vault. Song and DeBarberie paced the Red and Blue in the event with scores of 9.825.
Sara Kenefick (9.800),
Olivia VanHorn (9.725) and
Connie Hsu (9.700) rounded out the scorers with all five Quakers recording marks of 9.700 or better.
BARS | Penn 48.300
McCaleigh Marr and
Sophia Restaino led the way for Penn on the uneven bars with scores of 9.80.
Kristen Kuhn delivered a score of 9.675 and she was followed closely by twin sisters Sara (9.600) and
Ana Kenefick (9.425).
BEAM | Penn 48.325
McCaleigh Marr carried the momentum over to the next rotation with a team-leading score of 9.850.
Sara Kenefick's busy and productive day saw her post a mark of 9.750 and hot on her heels was
Connie Hsu (9.725).
Ariyana Agarwala (9.600) and
Kristen Kuhn (9.575) rounding out the scorers for the Red and Blue.
FLOOR | Penn 48.925
All five scorers for Penn in the final event of the day scored 9.750 or better.
Sara Kenefick led the way with a mark of 9.825 and she was followed closely by both
Isabel Song (9.800) and
Emma Davies (9.800). Both
Olivia VanHorn and
Marigold Garrett posted scores of 9.750. Going in the sixth posting, Garret put the exclamation point on the victory over Yale.

The Quakers are home next Sunday to square off with GEC and Ivy League rival Cornell. It is the team's annual Rumble & Tumble meet and will coincide with wrestling's dual meet versus the Big Red at The Palestra.
