PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team opens the home portion of its 2022 spring schedule this weekend with a pair of matches. The Quakers kick off the weekend with a Battle for 33rd Street, hosting Drexel on Friday and Rutgers on Saturday. Both matches will take place inside at the Hecht Tennis Center.

The Quakers season began last weekend in Florida at #11 UCF. Penn took the final three singles matches but that was not enough as the Knights took the victory, 4-3.

Drexel will open its season at the Hecht Tennis Center on Friday when it makes the trip down 33rd Street. The Dragons closed out fall action at the Cissie Leary Invitational. On the final day of the Invitational, Isabel Cabrerizo and Cristina Corte González earned wins.
Rutgers will have played two matches by the time they make their road debut of 2022 at the Hecht Tennis Center on Saturday. The Scarlet Knights opened their season defeating Army 6-1 at home last weekend. Rutgers took an early lead taking the doubles point. Sydney Kaplan, Jackeline Lopez, Daira Cadenas, and Kristina Zahare all picked up victories in singles action. Rutgers will host NJIT on Friday before making the trip to University City on Saturday.
