How It Happened
A slow start for Penn had it trailing early in the first quarter, but back-to-back buckets by Padilla and McGurk brought the deficit within one over three minutes in. Padilla drilled a jumper before McGurk secured a steal on the full-court pressure for the floater.

In similar fashion, Padilla forced a steal on the next Big Green possession and transitioned it into a layup for a lead that held for the Quakers the rest of the way. Through the rest of the first quarter, Penn held Dartmouth scoreless for over seven minutes in the period to carry a 20-9 advantage into the break.

Another slow start for the Quakers in the second frame was not much of an issue with another quarter of stifling defense that held the Big Green with a point through another seven-minute stretch. A pair of and-ones by Caldwell and Padilla later in the period sparked the offense, as Penn took a 28-16 lead into the locker room.

Led by a 10-point effort by Padilla, the Quakers earned 11 points off 13 Big Green turnovers, while the bench contributed 12 of the 28 points in the half.

Out of the break, the third quarter didn't see much separation with the Quakers taking a 10-9 edge but the Big Green hit a short stretch to gain some momentum early on until Padilla quieted the Dartmouth surge with a pull-up three-pointer from the right wing.

The final frame was all Penn, separating to as much as 24 points by the 3:08 mark. At the start of the quarter, the Big Green needed an early timeout to regroup after the Quakers scored the first six points including a coast-to-coast finish by Caldwell.

In the final five minutes of the game, the Quakers outscored Dartmouth, 9-3, to secure their 2-0 start in Ivy play.
