HAVERFORD, Pa. – The University of Pennsylvania cross country teams grabbed a pair of second-place team finishes on Friday evening at the Main Line Invitational, led by senior captains Ariana Gardizy and Noah Carey.
 
On the women's side, 62 points earned the Quakers the second spot as a team in a field of seven. Gardizy paced the Penn field with an eighth-place finish on the three-mile course, clocking a time of 17:12.9. Not far behind was Olivia Morganti in 12th with a time of 17:26.7. Freshman Bronwyn Patterson (17:35.6) crossed the line in 14th, bringing in a slew of Quakers in order all the way to 20th place. Patterson was followed by Fabianna Szorenyi (17:36.6), Laura Baeyens (17:38.6), Lizzy Bader (17:38.9), Phoebe White (17:43.3), Zoe Shetty (17:47.3), and Niamh Hayes (17:47.8), in that order.
 
The Penn men collected 46 points to take second place as a team, as Carey battled out a tight finish between four Villanova runners. The captain took third place with a time of 19:17.7 on the four-mile course. Junior Ray Sellaro cracked the top 10 with a seventh-place finish on a time of 19:32.2, while Luke Johnson (19:35.7), Michael Keehan (19:36.0) and Zubeir Dagane (19:36.2) came through in 11th-13th, respectively. The Quaker scorers wrapped up with James Lee in 20th and Will Shaughnessy in 23rd.
 
The teams split to two different destinations for their next events on October 1, sending part of the team to South Bend, Indiana for the Piane Notre Dame Invitational while the other part heads to the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University.
