PHILADELPHIA - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its 2020-21 All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes on Monday, July 12. The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team was honored as an ITA All-Academic team, and 15 Quakers student-athletes—five men, 10 women—were honored as ITA Scholar-Athletes.
The Penn women's team was represented by Iuliia Bryzgalova, Amanda Chan, Marija Curnic, Iris Gallo, Clarise Huang, Jennifer Richards, Jimena Rodriguez-Benito, Sonia Tartakovsky, Gibson Thomas and Ekaterina Vinnik. The men's team was represented by
Jason Hildebrandt,
Jonah Jurick,
Noah Makarome,
Harsh Parikh and
Jeff Zucker.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale) among the student-athletes who are listed on the institutional eligibility form. All varsity letter winners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
In order to be named ITA Scholar-Athlete a player must have a grade-point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on his/her school's institutional eligibility form.
