Wrestling Coaches Excited to Hit the Road Recruiting

PHILADELPHIA – The coaching staff for the University of Pennsylvania wrestling team is excited to hit the recruiting trail. On June 1st, the NCAA lifted the recruiting restrictions which had been in place since March of 2020.

The coaching staff is already on the phone and will be traveling to do home visits with the top local recruits in our region of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Ohio.

"We had a really strong start to the 2022 recruiting class and we're looking forward to being able to meet with recruits and families face to face as we wrap up this class," said Associate Head Coach Bryan Pearsall. "We get really excited anytime we talk about our vision, goals, and values with families, but it's even more exciting to be able to do so in person. I love when people get to see Penn's campus for the first time. Our campus is the perfect blend between campus comfort and city lifestyle."

This past Tuesday, June 15th, was the first contact date for recruits in the 2023 recruiting class and the staff is looking forward to speaking with recruits about the future of the program. This summer, the Quaker coaches will be evaluating the top wrestlers from across the country at the 2021 US Marine Crops Junior and 16U Nationals in Fargo in July.

"This is always a very busy week for us with many exciting conversations with new recruits and their families," added Pearsall. "Interest in our program is at an all-time high between the recent successes of the college program and the growth of the PRTC. We're looking for the most motivated, hardest working, smartest wrestlers in the country. We know this is one of the few places that you can truely experience the highest levels both academically and athletically while uniquely positioning yourself for a life after wrestling. This is a special place."
