HOW IT HAPPENED
The Quakers kept La Salle quiet for two innings, while bringing across the first run in the bottom of the first frame. Courtney reached on a hit-by-pitch and stole second two batters later to get into scoring position. On
Ben Miller's at-bat, a throwing error to first sent Courtney home for the early 1-0 lead.
Miller continued to tame the Explorers in the second, seeing just four batters and leaving one stranded. However, the bats came to life for La Salle in the third with two shots to right field for a double and single that scored three runs.
The lead never swayed back into the Quakers' favor the rest of the game, as the Explorers scored multiple runs each inning through the sixth.
DeVries held LaSalle scoreless in the seventh and eighth innings before the Explorers closed out the ninth with eight more runs to solidify their 12th win of the year.
