PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team had its second solid showing in as many days on Saturday, rolling past Drexel 6-1 at the Hamlin Tennis Center.
The Quakers (2-1) took the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2.
Zach Smith and
Jason Hildebrandt won at No. 1 for the third time in as many matches, while
Aditya Gupta and
Harsh Parikh gained a 7-5 win at No. 2 to clinch the point.
Penn clinched the match when Gupta, Smith and
Aleks Huryn all won their matches in straight sets, Smith and Huryn finishing within seconds of each other on adjoining courts. Hildebrandt also was a straight-set winner, and
Jonah Jurick capped the day by winning 10 of the 11 points in a stirring third-set tiebreak performance at the No. 4 singles spot.
Penn is back in action on Wednesday, hosting Saint Joseph's at 5 p.m.
