PRINCETON, N.J. – Four student-athletes represented the University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Super Regional hosted at Princeton.
Iuliia Bryzgalova,
Sabine Rutlauka,
Amanda Chan, and
Marija Curnic represented the Quakers over the weekend.
In singles action, Rutlauka and Bryzgalova both went 2-1 on the weekend. Rutlauka defeated Princeton's Michelle Sorokko (7-5,6-1) and Columbia's Sasha Wood (3-6, 6-3, 6-1) before falling in the quarterfinals to Princeton's Victoria Hu (2-6, 6-4, 4-6).
Bryzgalova won her Round of 32 match against Buffalo's Pia Schwarz (6-3, 5-7, 7-5) and her Round of 16 match against Princeton's Maia Sung (6-7 (5), 6-1, 6-3) before losing her quarterfinal match to Princeton's Brianna Shvets (6-7 (3), 7-6 (1), 3-6).
In doubles action, Curnic and Bryzgalova defeated Bryant's Rondini and Munson (6-3, 6-3) and Harvard's Duncan and Daujotaite (3-6, 6-2, 10-6), then lost in the semifinals to Princeton's Frayman and Joyce (1-6, 2-6).
Rutlauka and Chan defeated Boston College's Aguiar and Lopez (3-6, 7-5, 11-9) and Temple's Kulhava and Wei (7-6 (3), 3-6, 10-7) before falling to Yale's Kung and Gong (2-6, 4-6) in the semifinals.
Penn will be back in action this weekend, hosting the Cissie Leary Invitational Friday through Sunday.
