How It Happened
Brown jumped all over Penn right from the jump. The Bear scored the first three points, six of the first seven, and ten of the first 12 to open Friday's match and force a Quakers timeout. The closest Penn got after that was seven points, at 11-4, and Brown responded to that with five straight points en route to the easy first-set victory.

It was more of the same in the second set, Brown taking a 7-1 lead to start things. Once again, Penn never seriously threatened—the Quakers got within 10-5, at which point Bruno reeled off four in a row to open the gap to nine.

Penn shook it up out of the break, and it paid off. The Quakers took an early 7-3 lead, before Brown came back to tie it at 9-9. It was 14-14 when a pair of Fornaciari kills sandwiched a Brown attack error to put the Quakers in front by three. That turned into a 7-1 run that had the Red and Blue up, 21-15, and forced a Bears timeout. The visitors charged back, getting within two at 22-20 and making it a one-point game at 24-23. However, Planek's kill gave the set to the hosts and sent this one to a fourth.

The fourth set reverted to form. Brown scored nine of the first 11 points, and when Penn got back within 10-5 the Bears responded with six of the next seven points for a 17-6 lead.

Up Next
Penn is back at home again tomorrow night, hosting Yale in an Ivy League match that will start at 5 p.m. The Bulldogs come to The Palestra with a 3-3 Ivy League record after losing at Princeton on Friday night, 3-1.
