PHILADELPHIA – Senior Adam Goldner scored five goals, including the game-winner with under a minute left in regulation to lead the #9 University of Pennsylvania men's lacrosse team past Saint Joseph's, 13-12, on Sunday afternoon as part of the Philly 4 Lacrosse Classic at Sweeney Field.
 
The Quakers (2-3) ended a two-game skid with the victory, while the Hawks (5-2) saw their four-game winning streak come to an end.

NOTES
*Goldner scored five goals and added two assists to tie a career-best with seven points. He has scored a goal and recorded a point in 30 straight games for the Quakers.

*Thomas Chai netted his first collegiate marker in the fourth quarter for Penn.

*Dylan Gergar scored four goals for Penn. It was his third game in a row with four or more markers. He has set a new career-high with 19 goals this season.

*Sean Lulley had a goal and two assists for Penn. Jack Schultz also added two assists.

*Senior FOGO Kyle Gallagher was stellar once again for Penn. He won 21 of 27 faceoffs and grabbed a season-high 18 groundballs. It was his third straight game with 20 or more faceoff wins. He also picked up his first assist of the season.

*In net, Patrick Burkinshaw made a season-high 17 saves and he recorded a save percentage of .586. It was his best save percentage of the season and the second straight game he registered  a save percentage over .500.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Quakers got off to a quick start once again as Penn scored the first two goals of the contest in the opening two and a half minutes. Saint Joseph's answered with two unanswered goals to knot the game at two just under nine minutes into play. Senior Adam Goldner netted two straight markers to give him a hat trick in the early going and Penn would take a 4-3 lead into the second.

After the Hawks tied the game early in the second frame, Penn got markers from Drew Robshaw and James Shipley to hold a 6-4 advantage. SJU pulled within one at 6-5, but Dylan Gergar scored twice in the final 38 seconds of the first half as Penn took an 8-5 edge into halftime.

Saint Joseph's opened the third on a three-goal run to tie the game at eight with 8:04 left in the third. Penn weathered the storm and got goals from Gergar and Goldner to stretch the lead back to two at 10-8. The Hawks beat the third-quarter buzzer with a marker to cut the deficit to one heading into the final stanza.

Thomas Chai's first career goal gave the guests an 11-9 lead with 12:40 left in regulation. The Hawks responded with three unanswered goals to take their first lead of the day with 5:40 left in the game. Kyle Gallagher won the ensuing faceoff and found Gergar who tied the game at 12.

With under a minute left in fourth, Goldner collected a rebound in front of the net and converted to give Penn a 13-12 lead. Goldner's fifth marker of the day proved to be the game-winner as the Quakers kept the Hawks off the board while playing a man-down.
