HOW IT HAPPENED
Kayla Padilla, Kendall Grasela and Tori Crawford combined to score Penn's first six points and then Padilla knocked in a jumper to keep Penn within 12-8 with 2:49 remaining in the first quarter.

From that point, though, the Quakers hit a wall offensively. The Red and Blue went scoreless for the final 2:49 of the period and then the first 6:27 of the second period when the freshman earned two at the line. To close the half, Padilla banked in a basket plus the foul for the old-fashioned three-point play. With that offensive drought, Princeton pulled away to a 34-13 halftime lead.

In the third period, Padilla caught absolute fire. On one possession, Penn put five on the perimeter and let the freshman go to work. She trotted into a three and then used a nasty stepback to hit one on the next possession too. In total, she hit a trio of treys while piling up 15 points in the quarter, clawing within 20 at 51-31.

Princeton closed out the fourth quarter, giving Penn its first loss in eight games, 80-44.

UP NEXT?
Penn has a chance to put this result behind it this weekend, hosting Yale on Friday night and then Brown on Saturday at The Palestra.
