PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's basketball team was unable to shake a game Dartmouth squad on Saturday night, but in a sluggish offensive performance by both teams the Quakers escaped The Palestra with a 54-46 win over the Big Green.

How It Happened
Defense was the name of the game in the first half on Saturday. It took nearly two minutes for anyone to put points on the board,
Devon Goodman laying it in for the 2-0 lead. Goodman's three-pointer made it a 10-2 game, but Dartmouth's Trevon Ary-Turner sandwiched a pair of treys around a
Jordan Dingle triple and then Taurus Samuels hit a layup and the Big Green was within three at 13-10.
It was 16-12 when Dartmouth went ice cold. The Big Green went the final 8:41 of the first half without scoring a field goal, their only two points coming on a pair of Ian Sistare free throws with 1:14 left. Penn took advantage, eventually stretching the run to 12-2 and taking a 28-14 lead into the locker room.
Penn scored the first four points of the second half, as well, before Sistare finally hit an elbow jumper which ended the field-goal drought at 10:46 of game time. That sparked the Big Green, who went on a 7-0 run to make the score 32-21 before a press break left Goodman driving the lane for a layup. That started the Quakers on an 8-2 run and they were back up by 17, 40-23, with 12 minutes left.
Dartmouth chipped away. It took nearly four minutes, but the Big Green scored eight straight points—Chris Knight getting six of them—and the Palestra crowd was silent as Penn's lead was just seven points at the final media timeout. However, Dingle knocked down three foul shots on the other side of the break to re-establish the double-digit lead and then
AJ Brodeur hit a bunny hook to create space.
Dartmouth began fouling and got within 51-46 when James Foye hit a three-pointer with 41 seconds left. However, they were the final points the Big Green scored as Dingle and
Eddie Scott salted it away at the foul line.
