PHILADELPHIA – To honor the 50-year career of recently retired University of Pennsylvania sprint football head coach Bill Wagner, the Penn Champions Club called on members of the sprint football community to create an All-Wags Team for each of the five decades (1970s through the 2010s) the tenured coach served at the helm.

We are happy to announce the fifth of these five teams. The All-Wags 2010s team consists of 72 alumni with 33 players recognized on offense, 34 players honored on defense, two specialists recognized, five kickers honored and a pair of punters acknowledged as well.

"The past decades' teams established a winning spirit and a love of the games competitions," said Wagner. "I am elated and grateful to celebrate the many memorable accomplishments achieved by the 2010 All-Decade Team. During their reign, they collected 49 wins, two CSFL Championships, the first South Division title, a major win in the Allegiance Bowl over Navy and the OT win beating Cornell in 2016."

The All-Wags 2010s First Team featured 14 players on offense, 13 on defense, two specialists, a kicker and a punter. During the decade, the Quakers captured the 2016 CSFL championship thanks to an undefeated campaign. The Red and Blue also brought home the 2010 CSFL Championship and scored a victory in the Allegiance Bowl.

Over the three teams honored, there are five league MVPs as well as members of Penn's first-ever CSFL South Division Championship squad. In total, 420 ballots were submitted.

The QB race was the tightest amongst all five decades with just 20 votes separating first team and honorable mention. Todd Busler C'12 edged Mike McCurdy C'17 and Eddie Jenkins C'20 to garner first-team distinction. All three players were part of championship teams and both McCurdy and Jenkins were named CSFL MVP during their careers. Busler holds the top single game passing yardage record in program history and was named the team's MVP in 2011.

Joining Busler in the backfield on the first team were Mike Beamish ENG'15 and Mike Bagnoli C'11. Beamish was the highest vote getter across all decades. He ranks third all-time in career rushing yards, was the team MVP in both 2013 and 2014 and he was a four-time First Team All-League honoree. Bagnoli was the 2010 CSFL MVP and he ranks second in program history in career rushing yards. Bagnoli also produced two of the top-three single-season rushing performances in program history. He was also the team MVP in 2010 and a three-time First-Team All-League honoree. 

A trio of wide receivers landed on the first team led by Whit Shaw C'13. Shaw was a four-time First-Team All-League honoree, the team MVP in 2012 and the program's all-time leader in career receiving yards. He also owns four of top-ten single game receiving records and three of top-ten single season receiving records. The other three wideouts on the first team are Marcus Jones C'18, Aidan Kelly W'19 and Dave Hubsher ENG'11.

Matt Wetherell ENG'12 was the first team tight end.

Up front, the first-team offensive linemen were Shane Curry C'14, Jordan Colbert C'15, Donnie Kneisel C'16, Matt McDermott C'20, Matt Hermann C'20 and Matt Manin W'11. Kneisel was a three-time First Team All-League honoree for the Red and Blue.

In the trenches, the first-team defensive line featured Ed Cai ENG'16, Pat Boyle ENG'17, Mike Paci C'12, Mac Pierson ENG'18 and Sam Smallzman C'19.

The first team linebackers were Sam Biddle C'11, Chris Colavita C'17, Zak Klinvex W'11 and Matt Cuccinello C'12. Biddle was a team MVP and earned First Team All-League honors twice as a Quaker.

Stu Helgeson ENG'16 highlighted a quartet of players in the secondary. Helgeson was a team MVP and a two-time First Team All-League honoree. The other ballhawks in the first-team secondary were Tom Console C'19, Rob Diorio C'17 and Guiseppe Bevacqua ENG'19.

Kickers Mike Bass C'14 and Raiam Santos C'11 W'11 landed on the first team and the first-team punter was Matt Caltabiano ENG'18 W'18.

Specialists Zack DiGregorio C'18 and Danny Reyes W'14 rounded out the 2010s All-Wags First Team.
