Women's Squash Welcomes #13 Brown, #4 Yale in Weekend Series

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania's women's squash team (5-4, 1-2) will complete a busy week of squash with two more matches against top Ivy League competition. The Quakers will host #13 Brown (4-4, 0-3) on Saturday at 12 p.m. and host #4 Yale (10-1, 2-1) on Sunday at 12 p.m.

Previewing Penn
Following a tight 6-3 loss to #2 Princeton on Wednesday, the women will look to bounce back with two more home matches against familiar Ivy League foes. The Quakers have not lost to Brown since 2001, while they have dropped their last two to the Yale Bulldogs.

While they didn't get the team result they were looking for, Wednesday marked continued success from Amina Abou El Enin and Julia Buchholz, as well as a strong rebound from Jessica Davis. Abou El Enin remained undefeated, cruising to a 3-0 victory, while Buchholz turned in her second Ivy League win of the season.

Jessica Davis played in the most exciting match of the day, taking a 2-0 lead, before holding on in a wild 12-10 fifth game to win 3-2 against Princeton's top player. Her and Buchholz's wins have them each on the edge of hitting 30 victories in their Penn careers, with just one win needed from Davis and two from Buchholz.

Previewing the Bears
A sluggish opening season start has given way to better results as of late for the Brown women's squash team. After starting 0-3, the Bears have won four of their last five, including an 8-1 win over #14 George Washington. However, the Bears are entering the meat of the Ivy League schedule, playing #1 Harvard, #2 Princeton and #5 Penn in three of its final six matches before the postseason. Strong results in the final six will go a long way for the Bears to have an outside shot at the Howe Cup. At the top of the lineup, Brown is led by junior Alexa Jacobs and sophomore Abby Dichter.

Previewing the Bulldogs
At 10-1, the Bulldogs are turning in a remarkable season and are making a serious push up the CSA Rankings. With their only loss of the season coming in an upset against #9 Columbia, the Bulldogs have won several big matches, most notably a win against the current #3 Trinity Bantams. However, the resolve of Yale will be tested with several high-class opponents upcoming, including #1 Harvard and #2 Princeton. Senior Lucy Beecroft and junior Helen Teegan sit at the top of the lineup for the Bulldogs, while Jessica Yacobucci will join her brother and Penn Squash's own David Yacobucci for a reunion of the senior twins at the Penn Squash Center for the final time.
