PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania's men's squash team (7-2, 1-1) returns to Ivy League play following a loss at #2 Trinity with a battle in the Penn Squash Center against #4 Princeton on Wednesday, January 29 at 5 p.m.
Previewing Penn
Despite falling to #2 Trinity, there is still much to be excited about with the Quaker men. After years of dominance by the Bantams, the Quakers have narrowed the gap dramatically, falling 3-6 to Trinity in back-to-back seasons and now will look to defend its #3 ranking against its closest competitor.
During the loss,
Saksham Choudhary extended his unbeaten start to his collegiate career to 9-0 with a thrilling five-game victory. Also turning in a thriller was
Yash Bhargava, who put the pressure on Trinity with a five-game win as well. Both players will need to continue the strong run of play to succeed against the Tigers.
The Quakers will lean heavily on the senior class, who has dealt with several talented Tigers teams and performed under pressure. Last season, current seniors
David Yacobucci and
Wil Hagen turned in wins against Princeton, providing key insurance in what became a narrow 5-4 victory. Hagen also turned in a victory against Princeton at the Potter Cup in 2017-18 and will look to continue his run of success against the Ivy League rival.
