HOW IT HAPPENED
After the Blue Devils were forced to forfeit the 125-pound match, Ferrante got things rolling at 133. The sophomore stormed out the gates in his match against the Blue Devils' Harrison Campbell with a takedown early in the first period for a 2-0 lead.

Ferrante carried this momentum into the second period. The sophomore connected on an ankle pick as another takedown allowed Ferrante to take control once again. Once the wrestlers were back down on the mat, Ferrante locked Campbell into a cradle for his first pin of the season. The 4:42 fall gave the Quakers a 12-0 lead.

At 141, 22nd-ranked Zapf continued to impress in his standout sophomore season. He gained control of his match against Ty Mill early on, as a pair of takedowns gave him a 4-2 lead after the bout's first period. From then on, Zapf asserted his dominance. In the second period, Zapf sandwiched a four-point nearfall between a reversal and a takedown to extend his lead to 12-3.

The sophomore quickly escaped to start the third period, then extended his lead to 14-3 following a penalty. Two takedowns in the space of a minute put the tech within sight. Zapf once again cut Mill loose then slipped behind the Blue Devil for his third takedown of the third period. The sophomore held on to secure his riding time point and earned a 21-6 (6:12) tech fall, giving the Quakers a 17-0 lead.

Penn rolled on through the 149-pound match. Stepping up for his second-consecutive dual, Jon Errico utilized his experience to overcome an early deficit to win. Down 4-2 after a pair of takedowns by Duke's Wade Unger, Errico countered an attempted pick and got on top to tie the match at 4-4. With 10 seconds remaining in the first period, the senior rolled Unger onto his back and locked him up for a pin just before the clock hit zero. The fall was Errico's first of the season and extended Penn's lead to 23-0.

Penn rounded out the dual's first half with yet another win. Making his second appearance in the Quakers' dual lineup at 157 pounds, Cam Connor secured an 6-2 decision over Eric Carter. Up 2-1 late in the first, Connor went low to grab a Blue Devil ankle and spun to his left for his second takekdown of the period. Connor secured the victory with a third-period reversal, increasing the Penn lead to 26-0.

After a Duke forfeit at 165 pounds, the Blue Devils earned their first and only decision of the dual. Wrestling at 174 pounds, Neil Antrassian overcame a 6-2 deficit with a takedown and a reversal to tie it at 6-6. With Duke's Mason Eaglin in control of riding time, Antrassian had to cut him loose to make one final push for a pair of points. With the clock winding down, Antrassian was unable to secure a takedown in time and dropped an 8-6 decision. The result cut Penn's lead to 32-3.

The Quakers responded well with three more bonus-point wins to close out the dual. In his first match wrestling at 184, Hendricks cruised to a 17-2 tech fall over Duke's Blake. The sophomore stormed out of the gates and took a 10-2 lead after a trio of takedowns and back points in the first period. An immediate escape to start the second period set Hendricks up for the tech fall; In a neutral position, Hendricks bulldozed Blake to the mat for a takedown then pinned his shoulders onto the mat for a four-point nearfall to secure the tech fall. Yet another bonus-point victory gave the Quakers a 37-3 lead.

Cole Urbas closed things out in what would become the dual's final match with Penn's third tech fall of the day. The State College native showed why he was so highly touted coming out of high school, as a takedown and backpoints gave him an 8-0 lead after the first period. Urbas got within one point of the tech with a takedown and a four-point nearfall in the second period, then quickly escaped in the third to seal a 15-0 victory.

The Blue Devils forfeited the heavyweight match, wrapping up a dominant performance from the Quakers. The 48-3 victory is Penn's largest margin of victory in a dual since a 48-0 win over Sacred Heart in 2010.

Penn will continue the dual season and open its EIWA slate with a trip to Army on Thursday at 7 p.m.
