Men's Squash Clashes With #1 Harvard, #11 Dartmouth in Weekend Slate

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania's men's squash team (6-0, 0-0) carries their undefeated record into the new year and into Ivy League play, with an exciting two-game road trip. The Quakers begin play with the top team in the country in #1 Harvard (2-0, 1-0) before traveling to New Hampshire for a battle against #11 Dartmouth (1-2, 0-1).

Previewing Penn
The Quakers enter the new year with high expectations, having swept through all six of their matches in 2019, including a 7-2 win over the #6 Rochester Yellowjackets. Now, the Red and Blue face the toughest test of the season, taking on Harvard in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The matchup against Harvard will be the first for the Quakers since their Potter Cup semifinal loss on February 16, 2019, in which the Crimson won 8-1. Andrew Douglas delivered the one point for the Quakers, winning a five-game thriller. Now 5-0 in the young season, Douglas will look to maintain his undefeated start to the season against some of college's best.

Entering the weekend matchups, the Quaker men are 48-5 in individual matches, with four having won all five or six matches they have played in. The five losses over a six-match span are the least amount of losses since the 2006-07 team who lost just three in their first six matches and finished fifth in the Potter Cup.

Previewing the Crimson
The Crimson have not lost a game since their Potter Cup defeat at the hands of Trinity College on February 25, 2018, going 18-0 since that point and winning the 2019 Potter Cup. While the Quakers gave the Crimson their strongest test last season, the Crimson show no signs of slowing down, cruising to early season victories over #17 MIT and #11 Dartmouth to open their Ivy League campaign. The sophomore duo of Marwan Tarek and Victor Crouin lead the way for another elite Harvard squash team this season.

Previewing the Big Green
After a successful 2018-19 season in which Dartmouth reached the Potter Cup, the Big Green have been forced to retool a bit and have struggled out of the gate. A challenging opening season schedule has made the task more difficult, with both losses coming to #1 Harvard and #2 Trinity. In their most recent matchup, the Big Green stopped the bleeding and secured its first win of the season, defeating #20 Williams 7-2. The Big Green are led by junior Reg Anderson and senior Brandon De Otaduy at the top of the lineup.
