HOW IT HAPPENED
Brown got on the board first as an RBI single in the top of the fourth inning gave the Bears a 1-0 lead. Penn responded immediately, scoring three runs in the bottom of the frame. Hood and Malinowski each singled into the outfield to put runners on first and second. Petersen plated them both with a two-run single to left.

The Quakers tacked on another run as a Courtney single to left brought Petersen home. Brown leveled the score at three runs each after a single to center and a fielder's choice in the top of the fifth.

Both offenses were unable to continue the production, however. Penn went eight-straight innings without a run while Brown was scoreless for seven. In those innings, both team's pitchers stepped up to stay in the game. Penn had five hits over those innings while Brown had just two.

The Bears got it going again in the top of the 13th inning. Brown started the inning with a pair of singles and loaded the bases after an infield single. A two-run single put the visitors up 5-3.

The Quakers appeared to have their backs against the wall in the bottom of the frame after a groundout and a fly ball to center. Larsen came up big with a single to left field, and Hood tied it up on the following at-bat. The freshman hit his third home run of the season after a bomb over the left field wall tied the game at 5-5.

After two scoreless innings, Brown regained the lead again. A leadoff single and an infield error put runners on first and second, and the runners advanced into scoring position after a grounder to Larsen. Both runners scored on a single to left field to put the Bears up 7-5.

With their backs against the wall again, the Quakers came up big with five-consecutive singles to win the game. Petersen led off the inning with a walk, and Hernandez & Courtney singled to load the bases. Matt singled to left field to cut the deficit in half.

Phelan singled to center on the next at-bat to level the score at seven runs each with the bases still loaded. Larsen capped off an incredible game with the fifth single of the inning to plate Courtney and give Penn the series opener.

WHAT'S NEXT
Penn continues its series with Brown tomorrow as the Quakers face the Bears in a doubleheader with game one starting at noon.
