Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Pulls Away From Dartmouth to Win, 65-51

HANOVER, N.H. – The University of Pennsylvania men's basketball team used a stellar effort on both ends of the court early in the second half at Dartmouth on Saturday, turning a tie game into a double-digit lead and pulling away for a comfortable 65-51 win over the Big Green.

With the win, Penn (17-11, 5-7 Ivy) remains one game behind Brown in the loss column in the fight for the fourth and final Ivy League Tournament spot after the Bears beat Cornell tonight, 75-51. The Quakers will host the Bears next Saturday night at 6 p.m., after playing Yale on Friday night.

Dartmouth fell to 11-17 overall, 2-10 in Ivy play.

*Brodeur ended up scoring 55 points and grabbing 24 boards in two games against Dartmouth this season.

*Two of Donahue's baskets were two-pointers, his first two inside the arc this season.

*Donahue, who made his first start in almost exactly two years (March 4, 2017), also tied a season high with three assists.

*Senior Max Rothschild had seven rebounds, tying a season high that he originally set in Penn's second game this season against Rice back on November 9.

How It Happened
Saturday's first half was back and forth, typical of this Ivy League season, as the teams traded six lead changes and never held a lead larger than five points. That came late in the period when Antonio Woods hit a three-pointer to push Penn in front, 27-22, and was answered at the buzzer by the Big Green's James Foye who hit a runner to send the teams to the locker room with the Quakers up, 27-24.

Dartmouth opened the second half by tying the score on a Guilien Smith three-pointer, but Penn responded with the game's next 14 points including the first two two-point baskets of the season by senior Jackson Donahue and a pair of Devon Goodman treys on consecutive possessions.

Taurus Samuels ended a nearly six-minute drought for Dartmouth with a three-pointer, but Penn's offensive onslaught continued. The Quakers scored 15 of the game's next 17 points to extend their lead to 24 points, at 56-32. Donahue led the charge with a pair of three-pointers, getting him into double figures.

Penn was never threatened after that, as the 14-point final margin was the closest Dartmouth got after the Quakers' second run.
