Seniors Lead Men's Squash To Sweep Over Cornell

PHILADELPHIA - Led by its three seniors on Friday night, the University of Pennsylvania swept Cornell, 9-0. The Quakers improve to 5-1 in Ivy League play and head to Columbia on Sunday for their final conference match of the season.

How it Happened

Prior to Friday's match against Cornell, the men's squash program honored its senior class consisting of Aaron Kim, Alex Norman, Max Reed, Jonathan Zeitels, and Karim Hussein. This group of five guys helped pave the way to lead the program to its first ever No. 1 ranking by the College Squash Association earlier this year.

Looking to finish their careers with a win in Philadelphia, it was freshman Aly Abou Eleinen who got the Quakers on the board first. Abou Eleinen bounced back after suffering his first loss on Sunday to Harvard with a, 11-5, 11-4, 11-9 victory at number two.

One of three seniors in the starting lineup, Jonathan Zeitels recorded the first win for the senior class on the day with a 3-0 win at number eight to put Penn up 2-0. Shortly after, it was another senior, Hussein, who earned a 3-1 win.

Andrew Douglas clinched the match for the Quakers at Penn's top spot with a 3-0 win of his own.

Reed completed the trifecta for the seniors at number nine, winning 11-4, 11-3, 11-7.

Kim and Norman each played and won their exhibition matches as the senior class finished a perfect five-for-five on the evening.
